How would I adapt I6 Ravenloft to Shadowdark or other [[Old School Renaissance|OSR]]/[[NSR]] games? Rename the obvious IP things. The vampire BBEG has been kidnapping young women from the nearby town to forcibly turn into his bride, turning her in the process. Needs to be more character heavy than the original, compelling characters are a major contributor towards fun tabletop play. The BBEG has a few lieutenants who are encountered more frequently than their boss. Some ideas for that: - The Strawed Man, an animated scarecrow who blows away on the wind as a pile of straw and leaves - Also happens to be a fun play on the name "Strahd" - A captured priest, possibly being controlled, misled, or just wants to escape with his life - He has been brought in the do the marrying bit - An authentic holy man, basically a cleric - The Old Man, the avatar of the devil that created the BBEG. He's not as strong as this contract would suggest, he's just waiting around to collect on BBEGs wife's soul - Will absolutely try to trick players into a contract for their own souls - Cannot be killed, but can be routed - A night hag with a crystal ball - She tells prophesies for BBEG, leading to his current behavior The townsfolk are, unsurprisingly, incredibly terrified of BBEG, some maybe even offering up their own daughters out of fear (or perhaps greed, expecting to be rewarded). They will welcome the aid of outsiders if it means dealing with BBEG, but most will still be apprehensive.
