[[Writing]] plot and other story ideas that have not been fully fleshed out. # Settings - An ancient-ish setting where magic is commonly used to manipulate the environment (similar to Witch Hat Atelier) but the world itself is a simulation and the incantations and sigils are a programming interface. See also The Matrix - The characters slowly discover the truth about their reality, but what is waiting for them on the outside? # Ideas ## No Re-industrial Revolution What happens when human's settle a planet. Far from Earth and isolated as a result. The settlers dependence on technology combined with an inability to bootstrap manufacturing to produce that technology leads *what* to happening after many generations and several hundred years. Knowledge that was only digitized gets lost. Tools break down and are unable to be repaired. # Tabletop Ideas ## Items ### Tome of Pan's Delight A tome that reeks of dead fish and smoke. It is locked with a **hard** (DC15) lock, the key likely long intentionally destroyed. The tome has 3 chapters, each taking one dungeon turn to read. After completing each chapter, have the player roll a d6 and note the value. On the first page is a scribbled on warning: > DO NOT READ > I do not know what the pages of this accursed book contain, but the fate of those that read on is that of torture and death Each chapter has an additional affect on the reader: 1. The character feels compelled to read more and must pass a **normal** (DC12) WIS save to resist reading more 2. The character is haunted by incomprehensible nightmares and refuses to part with the tome as the cursed almost-knowledge begins to consume them. **Hard** (DC15) WIS to resist reading further. 3. Blood drains from their ears, nose, and mouth, their muscles spasm until they collapse. Lose 3d6 (see above) WIS, death at 0.
