Varies by model, but I have a LAMY Safari. These steps are adapted from [How to Clean a Lamy Fountain Pen](https://lamyshop.com.au/blogs/lamy-journal/how-to-clean-a-lamy-fountain-pen). # Basic / Regular Cleaning 1. Fill a cup or bowl with room temperature water 2. Disassemble the pen enough to remove the ink cartridge and remove the ink cartridge 3. Holding the grip section with the nib pointing down, rinse under gentle running water for a few seconds 4. Place the grip into the small bowl of water from step 1 1. Optionally put other pieces of the pen in the water if ink has spilled on them 5. Let the pen pieces soak in the water 6. After several minutes to an hour, replace the water 7. Repeat steps 5 through 6 until the water does not cloud with ink after an hour of soaking 8. Remove the pen components from the water 9. Dry the components with a paper towel or cloth 10. Put paper towel or cloth into a glass and put the pen tip in to allow water to drain 11. Wait for all components to fully dry, should take about a day or less 12. Reassemble the pen
